Right after the 2017 edition of RoboGames, a new robot in the antweight category was designed for several months later, at Winter Challenge XIII.
Named Colosso and inspired by the robot “The Bomb”, our new “heavyweight” was designed to be the biggest champion of the small arenas of the entire competitive robotics scene, after a bad performance of the other robot in the category team shown.
In its first competition, Colosso did not show a good result due to a problem in the weapon motor and its wheels were exposed, being easily remove.
Build report 2018:
After a while, the robot was redesigned by the team, changing its structure to HDPE plastic with the intention of reducing its weight, reformulating a weapon and protecting it wheels.
With these changes our young Colosso won first place at IronCup 2018! Colosso has its structure made of HDPE, and a “drum” type weapon made of 6061 aluminum.
Build report 2020:
Inspired by Ricota, a Beetleweight robot, or Colosso had its weapon replaced by an egg beater that occupies the entire rear of the robot, made of SAE 4340 steel.
