Story:

Duck is a robot in the Hobbyweight category, of 12lb. In 2013 in order to retire our robot Butcher, the oldest so far, the team proposed to build a new Hobbyweight. The name “Duck” is due to the award of one of the team members when betting $ 1 on a teddy bear machine, resulting in a duck plush, which became the team’s mascot.

Duck is in its fourth version. In its first version it had a polycarbonate back, with a wedge with no angulation at the front, this makes it easier for other robots to hit in during the fight. In addition, the wedge had a single support on the floor, making it not drive well.

In the second version, the back was still in polycarbonate, but the skirt started to be angled, which deflected the attacks well. The support point was made through two very short feet, however these feet were not efficient to ram the other robot. So the intention was to leave the weapon as exposed as possible.

Then, in the third version, they changed the polycarbonate rear to an aluminum one, which gave the robot more rigidity, which was a big problem, since it used to self-destruct. The foot was also changed, they placed a bigger one that can lift the opponent’s drum at the time of the attack, in addition to driving better with this change.

In its fourth and current version, the middle plate was removed and the weapon motor was placed in a “crib”, until the third version was used brushed Integy motors, in the fourth it was replaced by brushless Prop-Drive 28-36. The bearing was solid and the steel towers were removed, the wedge is not fully welded and the feet are machined.
